Vermont SportsCar To Display Pro Rally Race Car At Race-A-Rama Motorsports
Tradeshow in March
Colchester, VT -
Officials at Vermont SportsCar, based in Colchester, VT,
announced today that they will be attending the upcoming Race-A-Rama
Motorsports Tradeshow at the Eastern States Exposition Center in Springfield,
MA March 3rd - 5th, 2000. Known for many years now as "the motorsports show
of the year" throughout the Northeastern United States, Race-A-Rama annually
attracts thousands of visitors each and every spring to check out what's new
in racing in the Northeast for the coming season. As a special treat this
year, Vermont SportsCar will display their extremely rare Mitsubishi Lancer
Evolution V Pro Rally race car for the entire three days of the show. Vermont
SportsCar has been in the business of manufacturing, selling and renting
top-level Pro Rally racecars throughout North America for over 11 years.
Although this race car is much more common in Europe, the 285 horsepower,
all-wheel-drive Mitsubishi rocket ship competes regularly in the US-based
Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Pro Rally Championship and is piloted by
1999 SCCA Pro Rally Production Class Champion Karl Scheible from Spencerport,
NY. Along with close friend and Co-Driver Russ Hughes of Leroy, NY, the pair
scored their very first victory of the championship season together at the
Sno*Drift Pro Rally in Atlanta, Michigan on January 29th driving the Vermont
SportsCar-prepared Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V.
Vermont SportsCar will be sharing the booth space at Race-A-Rama with other
folks from the New England Region of the Sports Car Club of America as well as
representatives from the Audi Mt. Washington Hillclimb - which is held each
June at the Mt. Washington Auto Road in Gorham, NH. A variety of professional
and amateur built race cars will be displayed in the SCCA booth during the
weekend including examples from Pro Rally, Roadracing, Hillclimbing and Time
Trials (SOLO I & SOLO II).
In addition to the many sportscars on display at Race-A-Rama, there will also
be many examples from the worlds of go-karting, stock car racing, drag racing
and street rodding along with exciting displays from a variety of racetracks
and organizations from throughout the Northeastern US. Show hours for the
three-day motorsports extravaganza are 5pm-10pm on Friday, March 3rd,
10am-10pm on Saturday, March 4th and 11am-5pm on Sunday, March 5th, 2000.
The fourth place finish overall in the Perce Neige Rallye for the team of
Pizzagalli / Smith was Pizzagalli's best national finish ever. His plans for
the remainder of the season call for him to drive a Vermont SportsCar-prepared
rally car in several more Subaru Canadian Rally Championship and Sports Car
Club of America Pro Rally Series events this season. The date and location of
his next rally has not yet been determined.
