STPR RALLY June 5-6 1999, Wellsboro, PA
This weekend we are pleased to announce that we are renting our Mitsubishi Lance Evolution V for the STPR rally in Pennsylvania. The car has been rented to the 3 time Mexican National Champion, Gabriel Marin. Gabriel brings sponsorship from Quaker State Mexico and Bridgestone Mexico.

Mark Williams will be co-drving during the event. There is no question that his spanish speaking ablilities will come to be very handy over the weekend rally. The team will be treating this event as a test, as it is both the car and drivers first US PRO RALLY event.
RALLY UPDATE
This weekend Gabriel Marin with co-driver Mark Williams finished 9th overall. Out of about 80 cars that started the event only 41 actually finished. Many cars had mechanical trouble while others had accidents and went off the road. Gabriel and Mark were competing in a Lancer Evolution V that held up well. It did sustain minor damage to the right side after getting too wide in a hairpin, but that did not slow them down.

Initually communicating route notes in spanish between the driver and the co-driver had been difficult. Also combined with Gabriel's first "blind" rally, led to some slower times in the beginning. However, towards the end of the rally, things were going much better and on stage 11 Gabriel posted his best time, placing 5th overall. In Gabriel's other rallies in Mexico pace notes are allowed and the drivers know the road before they actually race, In the US this is not allowed.
